| Richard G. Johnson, Esq., is an entrepreneur and an attorney. As the
principal of The Johnson Law Firm, he concentrates his law practice in areas of Business Development & Litigation.
Mr. Johnson founded his firm in 1984, and was one of the pioneers of unjust dismissal litigation. He has appeared
in People Magazine, USA Today, The Chicago Tribune, the LA Times, the Australian News Service, and in regional
newspapers and television coverage as a result of various local Pittsburgh and Philadelphia litigation. Mr. Johnson has been admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania, the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit, the United States Tax Court, the United States District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania, and the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, and has appeared before courts in Virginia, California, and Chicago. He has received specialized training from the Pennsylvania Bar Institute in negotiation strategy & tactics. He is a member of the Association of Trial Lawyers of America, Allegheny County Bar Association, the Pennsylvania Bar Association, and (formerly) the American Bar Association, and the Delta Theta Phi legal fraternity. Mr. Johnson is a recipient of the ATLA Chapter Award and the Allegheny County Bar Association's Pro Bono Award. Mr. Johnson is also active in many professional, business, fraternal, and charitable organizations. He is a partner in several venture capital funds, including the Pennsylvania Investment Service Bureau. He holds management authority with Precision Staffing Services, Inc.; American Bio-Solutions, Inc., an alternative fuels venture; Pemijo Development Company, offering fundraising services to non-profit organizations; the Pittsburgh Prospect Club, a downtown Pittsburgh business association; and Aspen Quality Care, Inc., a tax-exempt non-profit corporation specializing in gender-specific rehabilitation services for non-violent female offenders. Mr. Johnson presently serves as Trustee of the Obershenk Medallion Trust, a private foundation encouraging exceptionally gifted classical singers. He is a former Board Member of the Pittsburgh Youth Ballet and the National Society of Arts & Letters, and has been active musically his whole life with performance, teaching, and composition. He taught & performed classical guitar in the Philadelphia area, performed with the Penn Balalaika Orchestra, is a member of the Balalaika & Domra Association of America, and organized the Williamsburg Balalaika Orchestra in Williamsburg, Virginia. While in Pittsburgh, Mr. Johnson has developed a series of innovative transcriptions of German Lieder for mandolin & piano, sang with the Shadyside Chancel Choir, and continues to give recitals on guitar & mandolin. Mr. Johnson is a Senior Member & former Moderator of the Philomathean Society, the literary society of the University of Pennsylvania. He was also active with the American Association of Collegiate Literary Societies. He is a Life Member of the National Rifle Association, an active member of the American Institute of Parliamentarians, holds an Extra Class Amateur Radio FCC license, is a Certified Instructor in Emergency Communications, and enjoys membership in the American Radio Relay League as a District Emergency Coordinator for the 33 counties of Western Pennsylvania, the Pennsylvania Rifle & Pistol Association, and the Mercedes-Benz Club of America. Mr. Johnson also has served as Deputy Solicitor for the Syria Shrine Center, is a Past Master of Lodge 45, F&AM, and is a member of the Shadyside Presbyterian Church. Mr. Johnson graduated from Conestoga High School in Berwyn, Pennsylvania, completed his undergraduate work in physics, mathematical logic, and philosophy at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, pursued further coursework at Immaculata College in Malvern, Pennsylvania, and received his Doctorate in Jurisprudence from The College of William & Mary in Williamsburg, where he practiced under a certificate with the Legal Aid Society of Virginia, and conducted research on the psychology of jury selection. Mr. Johnson resides in Highland Park. His hobbies include Amateur Radio, music, antique automobiles, penmanship, and marksmanship. |
